Tanzania Rejoins the World in Covid-19 Fight

DAR ES SALAAM – Tanzania has rejoined the world in the fight against Covid-19, ENN reports. Under the leadership of the late former president John Pombe Magufuli, the East African country had become an antagonist of the global vaccination drive as he denied the existence of the pandemic. According to official reports, Magufuli died on 17 March 2021 from heart complications.

Under the leadership of president Samia Hassan Suluhu, who replaced Magufuli, Tanzania has taken a different approach to the global scourge, including cooperation with health experts, encouraging its citizens to adhere to Covid-19 health protocols, considering mobilizing financial resources to roll out a voluntary national vaccination program, as well as the issuing of national statistics related to Covid-19. This was confirmed by Gerson Msigwa, an official from the Tanzanian presidency after president Suluhu’s engagements with global health experts. Tanzania last published national statistics on the pandemic in April 2020.
