Brazil Unveils National Cybersecurity Policy: PNCiber

Brazil’s President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva endorsed a decree on Tuesday instituting the National Cybersecurity Policy (PNCiber) aimed at fortifying national security within the cyber and virtual realms.

As outlined in the decree published in the Official Gazette, the National Cybersecurity Committee (CNCiber) will assume the responsibility of recommending updates to both the PNCiber and its mechanisms. This includes the National Cybersecurity Strategy and the National Cybersecurity Plan. Additionally, CNCiber will propose strategies for international technical collaboration in combating cybercrime.

“The PNCiber seeks to streamline the existing regulatory framework, curbing the escalating incidents affecting the nation, which inflict significant losses on Brazilian society,” stated the decree.

The policy will encompass the implementation of regulatory measures and oversight mechanisms to bolster cybersecurity across the country. It will also foster the development of domestic cybersecurity-oriented products, services, and technologies.

Furthermore, the policy aims to facilitate actions in the cyber domain, particularly concerning the welfare of children and adolescents. It also aims to reinforce cybersecurity technical expertise and professional training within the nation.
