Harare – Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe has appointed Precious Nyika as the company’s Chief Executive Officer effective 1 March 2020. Nyika takes over from Kaziwe Siame Kaulule, who has taken a new role in Lafarge South Africa after successfully leading the business transformation of Zimbabwe operations within a year.
“Precious Nyika is a Zimbabwean national who joined Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe in 2011 coming from a role as Operations General Manager in the furniture retail and manufacturing industry”, an official Lafarge appointment notice confirms. Before this appointment, Nyika was Director in charge of Human Resources, Strategy and Communications in Lafarge Cement Zimbabwe.
This appointment is a victory for Zimbabwe considering that Lafarge Zimbabwe has been in the hands of expatriate chief executive officers for a long time. As the group diversifies into new product lines to enhance its revenues, Precious Nyika’s business strategy strengths and human resource mobilisation capabilities are instrumental in driving the organisation forward.
The incoming CEO holds a Bsc Honours in Psychology and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Zimbabwe. She also holds a diploma in in Leadership from Havard Business School.
