Laos and Mongolia Strengthen Economic Ties with Seven Key Agreements

Leaders from Laos and Mongolia have inked seven key cooperation agreements, bolstering their ties in the realms of economics, trade, investment, and tourism. The signing ceremony took place in Vientiane, Laos, and was attended by the President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, and the President of Mongolia, Ukhnaa Khurelsukh.

President Khurelsukh and his delegation embarked on a state visit to Vientiane, aimed at reinforcing the long-standing friendly relations between the two nations. During their discussions, the two leaders explored avenues to expand their cooperation, with a particular focus on economic development, trade, investment, education, healthcare, agriculture, culture, and tourism.

Both presidents expressed their appreciation for the strengthening of friendly ties and cooperation between their countries over the past six decades since the establishment of diplomatic relations in 1962. They agreed to deepen this collaboration by facilitating reciprocal visits by high-level delegations and supporting each other in regional and international forums.

President Thongloun expressed his gratitude to Mongolia for its past support, highlighting Mongolia’s assistance in improving the Laos-Mongolia Hospital in Xieng Khuang province and a generous donation of 1,050 sheep in 2018.

Furthermore, President Thongloun extended an invitation to Mongolian businesses to invest in areas of potential in Laos, particularly concerning developments in agriculture, logistics, and transportation along the route of the China-Laos Railway. Prime Minister Sonexay Siphandone also urged President Khurelsukh to bolster trade and investment cooperation by facilitating meetings between the private sectors to explore potential partnerships.
