Anti-Narcotics Force of Pakistan seizes 109 kg of drugs

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) of Pakistan seized 109 kg of drugs in two intelligence-based operations in the country’s eastern Punjab province, said an official on Tuesday.

The spokesperson of the ANF said in a statement that the official teams conducted two different operations on Tuesday in Sargodha and Lahore district of Punjab and arrested two accused along with the drugs.

The force conducted the first operation near the Salam Motorway Interchange in Sargodha and recovered 48 kg of hashish from a car.

According to the official, the ANF raiding party had to chase the fleeing accused for 50 km to arrest him and seize the drugs.

In another operation, the ANF recovered 61 kg of drugs, including hashish and opium, from a smuggler in a vehicle in Lahore.

“During the investigation, the arrested accused confessed to working for the drug trafficking groups and also confessed to smuggling drugs from the northwest province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab,” said the official, adding that no tolerance will be shown for the menace of the drugs in the country.
