Tesla Gruenheide Factory Evacuated Amid Power Outage

Tesla’s Gruenheide factory near Berlin faced an evacuation on Tuesday morning due to a significant power outage, as confirmed by the company’s spokesperson to the German news agency DPA.

Reports from German media suggest that the manufacturing plant was brought to a standstill, with the surrounding area experiencing a blackout, suspected to be caused by an arson attack nearby. Bomb disposal teams were deployed to the scene, although authorities have not yet disclosed the cause of the fire.

This incident occurred amidst ongoing protests initiated by environmental activists under the banner “Stop Tesla” since February 28, opposing the expansion plans of the American car manufacturer. Following the news, Tesla’s stock experienced a 1.80% decline during premarket trading.

Brandenburg Interior Minister Michael Stuebgen emphasized on Tuesday that Germany will pursue action against those accountable for the alleged arson attack, pending confirmation from initial investigation findings. “Thousands of people have been deprived of essential services and put at risk,” the minister stated, as reported by German media outlets.
