HARARE – The government of Zimbabwe has set aside ZWL$287 million for the reconstruction of Mpilo Hospital, ENN reports.
The reconstruction has come on the back of a fire breakout at Mpilo hospital in Bulawayo last Wednesday, which destroyed property, clothes, food and accommodation facilities at three doctors’ quarters. Resident health workers were left homeless and stranded as the inferno reduced their food stocks, clothes, properties and personal documents to ashes.
Over 30 doctors at the hospital had to escape through a window as the inferno gutted their double-storey building. A number of well-wishers have chipped in to assist the affected doctors with food and clothes. Reconstruction efforts by the government of Zimbabwe will assist in bringing normalcy back to Mpilo hospital.
