A tragic incident unfolded on Sunday as a massive explosion rocked a firecracker factory in Maheva village, located in the Kaushambi district of Uttar Pradesh, India. Police confirmed that at least seven individuals lost their lives, while seven others sustained injuries in the blast.
The factory, situated approximately 169 km south of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh’s capital city, was devastated following the explosion. Reports indicate that around 18 people were inside the factory premises at the time of the incident. The force of the blast was so intense that it could be heard several kilometres away and sparked a fierce blaze within the facility.
Authorities revealed that the victims, including the factory owner, were among those working near the area where hazardous chemicals were stored. A police official described the grim scene, stating, “Today an explosion took place at a firecracker factory here killing seven people, including the owner, and injuring seven others. The blast occurred in the room where chemicals were kept.”
Tragically, such accidents are not uncommon in Indian firecracker factories and stores, often attributable to owners’ lax adherence to safety regulations.
